Prayer is a skill which grants the player specialized buffs in combat by evoking the power of certain Nocturne gods.

As a result of training this skill, players are able to activate new, highly-effective prayers for use in combat. Using prayer drains the adventurer's prayer points, which may be replenished with prayer potions or by praying at an altar.

The primary methods of training prayer include burying bones, scattering ashes, offering bonemeal at the ectofuntus in Morytania and sacrificing bones or ashes on an altar in a player-owned house's Chapel. The latter rewards players with four times the amount of experience as burying bones. Throughout Gielinor, there are a vast amount of creatures that may be slain, and each defeated foe drops its own set of bones. Typically, the more-dangerous monsters will drop better bones than their weaker counterparts.
